Land a teacher job

My name is Andrea Murphy and I am a resource teacher at Ocean Gate School in Bayville, NJ. I teach all grades from K-6th.
I landed my first teaching job by being a highly qualified teacher. I subbed in the same district for 2 years.
I landed my first teaching job because I possess these qualities I am well organized which is a must have for any teacher. Things need to be planned well and materials need to be organized for a lesson to go well. Also being flexible is an excellent quality that teachers need to have because so many things go on in a school day.
Finding a teaching job can be hard, but here is some advice to make it easier is substitute everyday that you are able to. Start subbing while you're in college. Take special education classes to make your certifications more marketable. Be dependable, honest, and personable with the staff you are subbing for.

My American Eduation Hope for 2009

An experience in 2009 that gave me hope for the future of American education is the awareness that schools are taking in going Green. My son's school is eco-friendly encouraging the use of e-mails rather than sending memos. I think this is wonderful and think that this could save thousands of dollars and trees!
This post is part of the MAT@USC Hope for the holiday’s event. Did you have an experience or witness something in 2009 which gave you hope for the future of American education? If so, please see this post for more information on how to share it.
